This is one of the easiest and quickest applications you'll ever use for the benefit received. Read our quickstart page on the right to see how easy the process is.
Using MeVu is so simple. We hate long instructions, so we'll be brief.
1. Register an account with a user name that will end up being a part of your public page URL. For example, if you name is Lisa, and it is available, choose "lisa" and your public MeVu address will be mevu.com/lisa. Or, use a nickname you go by, or any cool name you like. Numbers are allowed, so there are always user names like "lisa123" available.
2. Once logged in, Go to "My Account" where you'll find everything you need to build and preview your page.
3. You can begin with Edit Profile. Here you'll find the Account Details section to change your registration email address and password, the "Personal Details" section where you'll optionally enter your name, nickname and hidden email address for the secure Contact Me form, "IM Handles" where you'll optionally enter your IM handles, location, a freeform About Me section, and "Picture Details" where you will optionally enter a photo or image.
4. Next, go to Manage Categories, and set up your categories of links. For each new category, you name the category and enter an optional description. You can name these anything you like, place them in any order you wish, and reorder them at any time. All options are self-explanatory on the page. Simple as can be. The up and down arrows reorder the categories, the update icon allows you to update the category, and the red X will delete it (and its links!). You can start to enter links from here by clicking on the link icon, but first time out, just to start with the next menu option, "Manage Links."
5. Next, go to Manage Links, and set up all the links to your pages. Again, the options are all self-explanatory and easy to use. For each new link, you enter the name of the link (whatever you want), an optional description, the full URL (starting with http://, like http://www.myspace/john), any feed URL if you have a feed you'd like viewers to be able to preview, and the category to which it belongs. We highly recommend copying your links from the address bar, and then pasting them in to avoid errors. The link will show up in a display of all your links, grouped by category. Up and down buttons let you reorder them. The red X deletes a link, and the update icon lets you make a change to the link.
6. The additions and changes you make to your profile, categories and links are made in real-time, and also change your public page in real time. There is no "saving" of a batch of work. So, you can at any time preview your public page to see what MeVu.com/yourusername will look like. This is done by clicking on the next menu item, "Preview Public Page." This will open up your actual page in a new browser window, just as visitors to you page would see it.
7. When you are satisfied with your page, you are ready to place links to it on your own pages and websites. To get the proper URL, click on the next menu item, "Get Links and Buttons" and you will be presented with several options. There is a sample text link and some image button links. Simply choose one and copy the HTML code from the text area and paste it on your own page. In the case of the text link, you can change the text the users will see to whatever you wish by modifying the text between the greater-than and the less-than symbols.
8. If you are a Facebook user, click the "Facebook" link to see how to easily add our MeVu Facebook Application to show all your categories and links on your Facebook profile.
9. That's it! You're done. Come back to quickly add, change or delete any information whenever you need to.
